Dictation

Speaking a note aloud for transcription, rather than ambient capture.

Dictation is the older mode of voice-driven documentation: the clinician speaks the note aloud after the visit and software transcribes it. Ambient scribes have largely replaced dictation for progress notes; some AI scribes offer both.
