Clinical decision support (CDS)
Software prompts that inform, but do not make, a clinical decision.
Clinical decision support is any software that surfaces evidence-based prompts, alerts, or recommendations to a clinician at the point of care. Some AI scribe vendors are layering CDS on top of their note pipeline; regulatory scrutiny (FDA, ONC) increases sharply once the software influences diagnosis or treatment.
